Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on the 17th of April, 1972. Her family was however raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a nearby college. Wanting to follow the footsteps of her father her graduation was an engineering degree in chemical technology. Since she wanted to be an actress she went into New York. In addition to appearing on Broadway shows, she worked as waitress. Garner was a guest star in the show "Felicity." (It was on that show where she first met her husband Scott Foley.) Her breakthrough came with the action-thriller "Alias." Garner's debut lead role as a character was the widely praised romance "13 Going on 30." The film starred her as a teenager who found herself trapped in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner selected Gary Winick as the director of the film. The team continued to look for new projects after Winick's demise in the year 2011. Garner was awarded the title artist ambassador in 2009 for Save the Children U.S.A. The job entails the promotion of national literacy, nutrition, and early learning. Garner is a board member as the group's president since 2014, serves as an advocate for the cause of early learning. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to guide them in ways to encourage their young children to achieve.
