Laura Linney was one of the best American actors of recent times. Her strong and vulnerable performances have earned her a cult name. Born to a famous playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who made a living in the field of nursing, she began to take an interest in theater while having summers spent with her father and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway soon after graduation, she debuted in films within two years, and then on television in the year after. Innumerable appearances in films, and television as well as stage productions ever since. She has been awarded numerous prizes during her professional career. These include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Awards nominations. However, despite her distinctions and awards, theatre is still her passion and she will continue to act on both the stage and on screen.
